Dave Koz tour, all star studio pairings

Dave Koz just started a tour that arrives in Southern California later this month, with a stop at the Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 23.

His Collaborations: 25th Anniversary Collection, out now via Concord Records, shines a light on some of the saxophonist's most memorable creative partnerships, drawing from Koz's extensive catalog as well as other artists' recording projects.

The album, which is available HERE, also includes three new tracks. In the 25 years since the release of his self-titled debut album, Koz has forged a distinctive sound that merges the best elements of jazz, pop, R&B, soul and funk. Along the way, he's received nine Grammy nominations, charted seven No. 1 albums on Billboard's Current Contemporary Jazz Albums chart, toured the world and been honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The collection's first single, "(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher," is one of the newly recorded songs found on Collaborations: 25th Anniversary Collection. The track, which Koz recorded with Rick Braun and Kenny Lattimore, was #1 Most Added in its first week at Smooth A/C radio and went top 10 there. It also notched in the upper reaches of Billboard's Smooth Jazz National Airplay chart.

As his spirited new video shows, their special chemistry makes for an infectious rendition of the classic song, which was a No. 1 R&B hit for Jackie Wilson in 1967. The video was shot during rehearsals for the trio's tour.

They will also be part of the all-star lineup at the fourth annual In Concert For Cancer, a benefit concert that will take place on September 18 at Redhook Brewery in Woodinville, WA (just outside Seattle). In Concert for Cancer concert raises awareness and funding for childhood cancer treatment and cures, benefiting Seattle Children's Research Institute.

"Good Foot," which features keyboardist Jeff Lorber, who co-wrote the song with Dave, and Koz's soaring instrumental version of "Let It Go" from the 2013 Disney film, Frozen, are the other new songs appearing on Collaborations: 25th Anniversary Collection.

Previously released tracks feature Koz's classic collaborations with Herb Alpert, Eric Benét, David Benoit, Scott Bradlee's Postmodern Jukebox, Jonathan Butler, Brian Culbertson, Gloria Estefan, Heather Headley, Boney James, Toby Keith, Barry Manilow, Richard Marx, Johnny Mathis, Maysa, Michael McDonald, Marcus Miller, Keb' Mo', Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, Summer Horns, Luther Vandross, BeBe Winans and Stevie Wonder.

"Some of my favorite moments in the last 25 years have been collaborations with people whom I just love and treasure, and from whom I've learned so much - mentors and friends and people whom I never would have expected to meet," says Koz. "And that's the power of music. It will come up against any wall that can divide people and bring it right down."
